Where it appears that the evergreen tops trees touch the sky, where the air is pure, fragrant, where the murmur of streams and shepherds whistle meet the bells tinkling, where people smile at you kindly, at an altitude of 1600 m above the sea level, is the famous mountain resort “Rânca”, an ancient Romanian land hearth, with places of incomparable beauty.
The road winds through beech forests and cliffs of fossilized ancient times, where legendary outlaws roamed. Wooded valleys and mountains barren ridges are twinned in the area with mirror simil to sky, all together outlining images that spoil the beholder eye.
The famous mountain tourist area, with mountains meeting in a chain of beauty and unparalleled originality, with their lofty peaks covered by eternal snows, makes of this a dream land.
Access is on DN 67C Bengeşti (Gorj) – Şugag (Alba), which is an updated and maintained road to the resort even on winter time. On winter you can only go up from Novaci, Transalpina being closed in the cold season.
Has three ski slopes all with lift, one for beginners on the Corneş Mount positioned and equipped with night lights positioned in the center and one for advanced continuing over top. The third is a babyski positioned at the resort entrance also having night lights.
Since 2011, at Păpuşa Peak foothills, Rânca also has a chairlift serving the three ski slopes.
Tourists are attracted by Rânca both in the winter when everything is white and pure as in the summer when it turns green.
Accommodation offers are numerous both in pensions as in Rânca resort hotels’, each with diversified offers and fun is guaranteed.
There are also restaurants where you can enjoy a meal and shops where you can buy foodstuff.
